YXY Ships First 12,000 Units of YPM16-CAT6-A IP68 RJ45 Couplers for Outdoor Ethernet Runs
YXY Electronics completed outgoing quality control on the first production run of its YPM16-CAT6-A M16 IP68 waterproof RJ45 CAT6 STP shielded female-to-female coupler on , releasing 12,000 pieces for industrial automation, marine and outdoor surveillance wiring, factory logistics confirmed this week. The shielded inline coupler joins two Ethernet cable ends inside a single threaded PA66 body — sealing the one junction where unsealed outdoor runs most often fail — and orders open at MOQ 10 at US$ 0.87 per unit with a five-working-day dispatch promise.
The listing specification sheet rates the coupler IP68 with a CAT6 STP (screened twisted-pair) interface on 8P8C gold-plated contacts, in a nylon PA66 housing rated for continuous outdoor service. The M16 coupler body threads hand-tight between two pre-terminated cable ends, so integrators no longer have to pull one long solid run through a wall — they can terminate in the workshop, then join on site in seconds without crimping, soldering or heat-shrink coverings.
Why an inline coupler, not a solid through-run
Installer feedback gathered over the 2026 spring trade show cycle pointed to a single recurring sore spot: Ethernet runs that had to cross a bulkhead, a machine enclosure wall or a pole — then keep a weather-tight seal for years. Field reports from two European network integrators showed disconnecting a hard-wired outdoor run for maintenance or a camera replacement cost 30–45 minutes of re-crimping per site, with every re-termination adding another potential moisture point.
The YPM16-CAT6-A moves the sealing point away from the individual cable jacket and onto a threaded body that compresses a seal ring around the joined pair when tightened. The factory rates the assembled joint IP68 — verified in a 30-minute, 1.5 m submersion cycle on randomly sampled units during lot acceptance — so the coupler can sit in a junction box, below a deck, or exposed on a mast without a separate enclosure.

How the YPM16-CAT6-A line is built
The body and captive nut are moulded in glass-reinforced nylon PA66 to UL94 flammability rating, with the shield continuity path carried straight through the coupler between the two RJ45 jacks — no breaks, no board-level pass-through — so CAT6 crosstalk performance is held end to end. The 8P8C contacts are plated in gold over a nickel underplate with phosphor-bronze clip geometry for a positive latch in both jacks.
Each unit is tested for wire-map continuity on all eight conductors at final test, and STP shield-to-shield continuity is checked on a sample basis from every batch. The listing specification sheet rates the interface at 1 Gbps CAT6 throughput with the coupler closed, which the factory quotes for the full −40 °C to +105 °C service window of the housing.
Three channels ordering now
Backlog at close of business Monday split cleanly across three customer groups, the channel desk confirmed. Industrial automation and machine builders took 44 % of the first run, using the coupler to join pre-terminated armoured drops inside control cabinets and on robot cell Ethernet. Integration and surveillance contractors accounted for 33 %, ordering for outdoor IP cameras, access-control runs and perimeter sensors where a single junction must outlast the installation. The remaining 23 % went to marine electronics houses wiring below-deck WAN drops and navigation networks, where the 250 V / 2.4 A rating envelope quoted on the listing sheet comfortably covers PoE loads.

Does the STP shield really stay continuous through the coupler?
Yes — the shield path is carried directly between the two jacks inside the body, with no board pass-through in the signal chain. Shield-to-shield continuity is checked on sampled units from every batch at final test, and the listing spec sheet quotes CAT6 performance with the coupler closed. For PoE loads within the quoted envelope, the continuity path also keeps ground potential defined across the joint.
Can I bury it, or does it need a box?
The joint itself is rated IP68 for a 30-minute 1.5 m submersion cycle, so it needs no additional enclosure where the cable entries are also sealed. On unarmoured cable routes in high-vibration machinery or exposed mast positions, YXY recommends a small IP-rated junction box purely as mechanical protection; the coupler retains its rating inside it.
Is the coupler field-reterminable if a cable changes length later?
Yes — unlike a factory-sealed pigtail, the YPM16-CAT6-A is an inline coupler: both ends open, so a terminated cable can be removed and a new one shortened or extended on site without breaking the IP seal train of the body. Keep a spare terminated lead on the truck; the coupler’s captive seal and nut re-clamp on reinstallation.
Are STEP and DXF drawings available for integration?
Yes. STEP AP214 and DXF dimension drawings are delivered by email within 1 business hour after a request to waheed@yxydz.com, including the M16 thread envelope and recommended panel or junction-box clearance for the assembled coupler. Custom ratings and seal options are quoted from MOQ 500.
What ships next — roadmap
Three follow-on variants are on the prototype bench with pilot lots scheduled for October 2026: a CAT6A-rated version for 10 Gbps short runs on the same M16 body, an IP67 split-body variant that unclips for mid-run service without lifting the cable ends, and a feed-through bulkhead edition with a locknut for panel-mount installations. Existing YPM16-CAT6-A customers on blanket PO get first call on pilot quantities at list parity.
